What would you do?

What would you do if you saw a hobo on the street, in the freezing cold weather? Would you stop and offer to give him food, give him cash? My family and I were driving around downtown where a lot of homeless men are on the street. Cars whizzed passed, nobody stopping to offer, nobody stopping to see if they're okay. It is kind of like they were overlooked as nothing. I know that they are people too, you don't their story. Everyone has a story. I have been without, so seeing people on the streets is very difficult. I asked my mom to pull over and see if they needed help or if we can do anything to aid them. When we pulled over, there was this man, with his wife. They were bundled up, trying to fight against the harsh coldness of winter. I asked the man if he would like me to get him some hot coffee from the Mc Donald's that was a block away, he said "No, don't go out of your way for me." Of course, I went out of my way. It's what I do. I went and got him coffee, then stopped at Taco Bell, so him and his wife would have warm food in their bellies. When we brought him his food and coffee, they were crying. The man uttered, "God Bless you." When we pulled away, tears were running down my face. I knew that I had done the right thing. I knew that I had made that man smile, and I put warm food in his belly.

Seeing homeless people on the street, especially at the time of holidays, it breaks my heart knowing that they have nowhere to go, nowhere to be safe from the cold. They're all alone. It makes me realize just how far I've come in life, it makes me realize that I have more than other people do. I may not have a lot, but I have enough. It makes me look back and think about what I would do if I were in their position. I really wish one day, somewhere, somehow, California would step up and help the homeless. It's heartbreaking and devastating.

The next time you see a homeless man or woman, would YOU help them?
